VARIOMAG BIOSYSTEMS meet the hygiene requirements set down in safety regulations for genetic engineering, and all the criteria for stirring biological cell cultures. They have a slow-running multipole drive with direct or remote control (BIOSYSTEMS B). They have been specifically designed for mixing microcarrier cultures, culture solutions and cell suspensions without harming the cells. All the systems may be operated in normal or gas absorption incubators or - remote-controlled - in temperature-stabilized water baths. Any normal commercial Spinner flasks can be used, as well as culture flasks with their won special stirring devices.

BIOSYSTEM 1

Directly controlled magnetic stirring system with one stirring point. For culture flasks from 25 ml to 5 litres. There is virtually no heating of the standing surface. This fact plus the low uniform speed and smooth start guarantee optimum conditions for growth. Speed remains constant even if viscosity changes. The stirring system including electronics is hermetically encapsulated in germproof and waterproof synthetic material in a stainless steel housing, thus fulfilling all hygenic requirements. For continuous operation with high air humidity, e.g. in incubators.

BIOSYSTEM 4

Directly controlled magnetic stirring systems with 4 stirring points in a square arrangement. There is a separate multipole drive below each stirring point. For volumes from 25 ml to 2 litres. The compact BIOSYSTEM 4 is mainly suitable for larger incubators. Otherwise the range of uses and properties are the same as for BIOSYSTEM 1.
